I’ve noticed many publishing journals and groups announcing switches to Subscribe-to-Open. It occurs to me that while libraries struggle with shrinking budgets, it would be small change for the mega AI companies to fund the creation of
vetted new research via Subscribe-to-Open or other funding streams -- if they wanted to.
Has anyone noticed any AI companies’ funding publishers’ Open Access initiatives? (Or are they only interested in pursuing the digitization of library physical holdings, not the creation/publication of new research?)
