Apologies for cross-posting
Dear colleagues,
The Controlled
Access Management (CAM) for Research Data Initiative
is seeking content and resources relevant to managing controlled access within research data repositories, in particular:
We define restricted data as “data that are not immediately accessible because they are restricted due to commercial, ethical, or legal reasons, or they are only available upon request” (https://doi.org/10.1139/facets-2023-0102)
Please contribute materials using the following Google Form.
We intend to organize, assess, and analyze the contributed content and resources as an environmental scan that will help to develop our understanding of current practices and considerations related to the deposit, discovery, and re-use of
restricted access research data held in a research data repository. The contributed content and resources, and the environmental scan, will help to support the development of recommendations on how to advance the management of controlled access research data
within research data repositories in Canada.
Examples include:
If you are unsure if content is relevant, please submit it for consideration. While our focus is on Canadian content and resources, we also welcome material related to initiatives and services internationally. You may submit either by sharing
a link to a resource or by uploading a file (e.g., a Word doc or PDF). If you have multiple resources to share, please submit each one individually. We will be gathering submissions until October 4th 2024.
The submissions will be shared publicly in a Zotero library (unless a submitter requests that the submission be kept confidential); submissions will also be used to help develop a Roadmap for future advancement of controlled access management
of research data, which will be submitted to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada in 2025 and shared publicly.
If you have any questions, please contact us at
[log in to unmask]. Should we have questions about your submission we may request further information through the contact information
you provide. If you do not include your contact information it may result in your submission not being included in assessment and/or publication if we require further information from you.
Have a great day,
