Hi all - Rick happy to engage with you and the list when I’m back in the office. I’m out sick but eager to unpack the process because it was… a journey. And our librarian and consortia consultants were a huge boon in that process.

TDLR: yes it’s an iteration on traditional RAP - I refuse to use language of TAs - BUT the fees are fully transparent and consistently derived. Well make the formula and our cost per article information public and update annually. More to come when I’m fully back on my feet.

Thanks for the interest!

Hi, Melissa –

At first glance, this looks like a more or less typical transformative agreement: the library pays a fee, and the fee covers both access to subscription content and OA publishing services for its campus authors. Can you tell us what sets this model apart from other read-and-publish or publish-and-read agreements that are offered by other publishers?

Thanks,

Rick

AIP Fusion

Powering open science with unlimited publishing, reading, and integrated services

Breaking barriers to open research is at the core of AIP Publishing’s mission. We’re therefore proud to officially announce AIP Fusion, a progressive new business model and powerful next step in making physics research more open, fair, and impactful for the researchers and global community we serve.

A Model Built with Libraries, for Libraries

Developed through extensive consultation with an international group of libraries and consortia, AIP Fusion moves beyond the traditional “article economy” to a services-based model that offers unlimited reading and publishing services in AIPP’s full portfolio of 40+ publications under one simple, transparent agreement.

Under one annual fee, your institution receives:

· Unlimited reading access to our portfolio of 40+ AIP Publishing and partner journals, from 1999 to present (frontfile)—including new titles launched during the term.

· Unlimited open access publishing in any AIPP or partner journal—including gold OA titles—without APCs or article caps.

· Full compliance with funder mandates for CC BY 4.0 licensing.

· Predictable, transparent pricing that reflects both reading and publishing behavior.

Building on our open science pillars—increasing transparency, improving access, embracing difference, and ensuring sustainability—AIP Fusion fosters a more sustainable research ecosystem where scientific integrity, not volume, drives progress.
