There I read
| To enable linking of information from different sources, open
| research information should make use of persistent identifiers such
| as DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers), ORCIDs (Open Researcher and
| Contributor IDs)
As far a I understand them, DOIs and ORCIDs are not open information. I
am not aware how can not get a complete copy of these databases that
would be reasonably up-to-date, say on a daily basis. I suspect that
only paying members get such access.
If I am correct, then advocates of open information should not
advocate the use of these systems.
PubMed and RePEc (my own creation) are examples of truly open research
information.
